Magnesium should be taken separately from Calcium (as noted above) as both compete for same receptor site. Excess magnesium can cause diarrhea. However, it should be taken to bowel tolerance. Stools should be soft and not formed. If you find you are having watery bowel movements consistently, reduce magnesium to 1 - 2 times per day or less for one week, then try the doses as indicated to find your level of bowel tolerance.
